Congratulations Amy VanderLugt!

Amy VanderLugt was North Fulton Music Teachers Association’s 2022-2024 President. Under her leadership, with the aissistance of board members and committeees, NFMTA maintained a membership of over 80 teachers, and most attendances for Fall Festival. Her infectioous positivity and strong leadership brought us to these successful two years. Thank you so much, Amy!!

34 Years teaching piano dedicated to enriching the lives of every single student. With a passion for music and a strong belief in the value of music’s impact on our lives, I am blessed to enjoy a life doing what I love – teaching piano to many children!

BA in Piano Performance, and a Masters in Piano Pedagogy

Professional contributions include many key roles in local and statewide associations, small private schools and various dance schools and piano stores.

In addition to these roles, I have contributed to successful events in the North Atlanta area for over 25 years. I enjoy being a lead contributor to many performance opportunities, including Fall Festival, Federation, Masterclasses and lectures. I am driven by caring for the students and my fellow teachers and for the success of our local events/associations. I work hard to make each event the best it can be for the teachers, the students, the judges, and the partnering facilities. I am responsible for innovative ways to put on festivals, have secured partnerships that have saved thousands of dollars yearly, established a partnership with Pianos for Education (PFE) and England Pianos to supply pianos at no charge.

There are countless hidden values that piano lessons teach – poise, confidence, careful attention to listening, goal setting, balance, incredible brain power, decision making, recovery from mistakes, consistency. With the right approach, music can motivate students and lead them towards achieving goals, in music and other life goals. Using small weekly achievable goals, students working toward the final performing goal learn countless life lessons. Parents of students see that the lessons their children are learning in piano translate to their whole lives. The greatest pleasure as a goal oriented, highly motivated person is to see students grow and achieve not only success in the piano studio, but as they thrive as young adults.

Through years of consistent involvement and leadership, I have served:

GFMC board for 5 years, secretary then treasurer

NFMTA’s Treasurer for 3 years, President for 2 years

Chairman for NFMTA’s Fall Festival for several years

President of Chattahoochee Music Club’s Federation chapter for 20+ years

Worked for Steinway Piano Galleries in Clearwater, FL, and created and nurtured a large Kindermusik program that served over 200 families weekly.

Created new private piano studios in several cities during early family years and relocations

Greater Nashville Junior Academy and Hendersonville Christian Academy hired me to start piano programs during school hours both in the Nashville, TN area.

Responsible for the Catherine Rollin GA workshop in August 2023. I was the point person to take care of booking everything for Mrs. Rollin, booking the venue and all equipment. The event was record setting with attendance.

In addition to these roles, I have contributed to successful events in the North Atlanta area for over 25 years. I enjoy being a lead contributor to many performance opportunities, including Fall Festival, Federation, Masterclasses and lectures.
3.7 million students don’t have access to music education
Many of these young people live in underserved communities where music education is being eliminated or is non-existent. We know the massive benefits of music education for students, and we’re determined to provide it for as many as possible.
