Celebrate With Music is the major fundraiser for scholarship money and teacher symposiums for NFMTA. This mall performance opportunity should not be considered a formal recital situation, as there will be significant background noise. Please take this into consideration before you decide to have your students participate. We cannot ask shoppers in the mall to be quiet, nor can we expect the mall to silence their overhead music or Santa’s workshop music. However, with these inconveniences, there are real benefits:
— You can bill this as your mid-year recital, taking pressure off during this busy season.
— Students can learn a valuable skill to shut out the distractions and focus on the music.
— Students who struggle with performance anxiety in formal settings may feel more relaxed.
